Why UK brands work with us

An Offshore Team, Run Like a Local One

Our team is in Bangalore. You get the same written scope, staging reviews and support a London agency would give, from a team that only works on Shopify. See how this compares in our agency vs offshore developer guide.

01

Shopify-only

No WordPress builds, no generic web projects. Every project is a Shopify project.

02

Fixed price

Scope, timeline and total cost are in writing before work starts. No hourly billing surprises.

03

Fast launch, real support

A standard store launches in 2–3 weeks, with 30 days of support included after go-live.

04

Easy hours

UK mornings fall in the Indian afternoon, so calls are easy to schedule, and work can move forward while your team is offline.

UK set-up

VAT, MTD and GDPR, Set Up Properly

UK rules differ from the US. We configure the Shopify side of each one; your accountant and legal adviser own the filings and the legal wording. UK accessibility expectations also matter: the Equality Act 2010 requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and we build toward WCAG 2.1 AA, the benchmark most teams use.

VAT

Rates and categories

UK VAT rates (20%, 5% and 0%) and product tax categories configured in Shopify, with price display set up for UK shoppers.

MTD

Accounting link

Store data connected to MTD-compatible software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage. Your accountant files.

GDPR

Consent and policies

Cookie consent, privacy policy pages and a process for subject access requests.

EU

Selling to the EU

Duty and tax settings for EU orders, including EORI and IOSS or OSS questions your adviser confirms.

This is not legal or tax advice. Read the VAT and MTD guide and GDPR and cookie guide.

Plan Prices in Pounds

Shopify lists UK plan prices in GBP. Shopify Payments is listed as available in the UK, and orders paid through it do not carry Shopify's third-party transaction fee. Our guide to Shopify fees explains each charge, and our own fees are fixed-price proposals quoted in pounds, or in US dollars if you prefer.

Time zones

Meet in Your Working Day

Calls work in any timezone. UK working hours land in the Indian afternoon and early evening, so we schedule calls then and confirm the time when you book. Between calls you get regular written updates.

FAQ

UK Brand Questions

Don't see your question? Send us a note or book a call.

Why hire an offshore Shopify agency instead of a London agency?

An offshore agency can suit a UK brand that wants a fixed price, a written scope and a team that works only on Shopify. Cognito IT is based in Bangalore, builds standard stores in 2-3 weeks and includes 30 days of support after launch. UK mornings fall in the Indian afternoon, so calls are easy to schedule, and the time difference means build work can continue while your team is offline. Ask any agency, including us, for past work and a written scope before you sign.

Which UK payment methods do you set up?

We set up Shop Pay and Shopify Payments in GBP, Stripe with Apple Pay and Google Pay, and PayPal. For pay-later we connect Klarna and Clearpay, and for subscriptions we can set up Bacs Direct Debit through GoCardless. Shopify's checkout supports Strong Customer Authentication. Some options depend on your Shopify plan. See Klarna vs Clearpay for a comparison.

How do you handle UK VAT, MTD and GDPR?

VAT: we configure UK VAT rates and product tax categories in Shopify and connect your store data to accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage. Your accountant handles Making Tax Digital filing and decides on VAT and EORI registrations. GDPR: we set up cookie consent, privacy policy pages and a process for subject access requests, but legal wording is for your adviser. More in our VAT and MTD guide and GDPR and cookie guide.

What about UK shipping carriers?

We connect Royal Mail, Evri, DPD UK, Parcelforce, Yodel and DHL Express through Shopify Shipping or your shipping app, and integrate 3PLs such as ShipBob and Huboo. See Royal Mail vs Evri vs DPD if you are deciding between carriers.

How do time zones work?

Calls work in any timezone. A UK morning falls in the Indian afternoon, so calls are easy to schedule and we confirm the time when you book. Between calls you get regular written updates, and the time difference means work can move forward while your team is offline.

What does a Shopify project cost?

Every project is fixed price. After a free audit or a 30-minute call, we send a written proposal within 2 working days that lists every deliverable and the total fee, quoted in pounds or in US dollars if you prefer. Price depends on scope, so we do not publish an hourly rate. Use the Shopify cost calculator for a rough scope estimate first.
